Protect Your Sleeping Bag
A few weeks ago I wrote about Fall Camping and recommended a few items that would be helpful in making your fall adventure more comfortable. I mentioned that one of your major investments would likely be a good down sleeping bag. Although many down products are now treated to help the feathers shed moisture, many do not and the treatment is only an aid in a damp atmosphere in my opinion.
Knowing that down loses its insulating properties if it gets wet, I recommend you get a compression waterproof bag for your sleeping bag. It will help ensure your sleeping bag stays dry and reduce its size to just a little larger than a football. This is great for backpacking as it saves space in your pack. I recommend the Sea to Summit Dry Sack. It is made from Event fabric which is a breathable waterproof fabric similar to Gore-Tex. Just a quick tip that has worked well for me. Better safe than sorry.
